This is more than “adjusting”

Empty nest syndrome isn’t a diagnosis, but the depression, anxiety, and loneliness that come with it are — and they respond well to treatment.

🌧️

Depression & grief

Persistent sadness, loss of purpose, crying easily, or feeling like the best part of your life is behind you.

😰

Anxiety & worry

Constant worry about your adult children, trouble sleeping, restlessness, or a sense of dread you can’t explain.

🪞

Identity & relationships

Not knowing who you are outside of parenting, strain in your marriage, or drinking more than you used to in order to cope.

Programs that meet you where you are

More support than a weekly appointment, without putting your life on hold. We’ll recommend the right level of care after a free assessment.

Evening Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

3–4 evenings a week, about 3 hours each. Keep working during the day and get structured therapy after hours.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

A full-day program, 5 days a week, for when depression or anxiety has become hard to manage on your own. Most clients step down to IOP afterwards.

Outpatient Therapy & Medication Management

Individual sessions, skills-based groups, and psychiatric support — in person in Bedford or via telehealth.

What we help with

  • Depression and persistent low mood
  • Anxiety and panic
  • Grief, loss, and major life transitions
  • Loneliness and isolation
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Alcohol or substance use alongside mental health

Questions we hear often

Isn’t this just a normal part of life?

Adjusting to an empty nest is normal. Weeks or months of low mood, anxiety, sleep problems, or withdrawing from people you love are signs it has become something more — and that support will help.

I still work full time. Can I do this?

Yes. Our evening IOP is designed for working adults, and telehealth means you can attend from home. If a day program is the better fit, we’ll help you plan around it.

Does my insurance cover this?

We accept most major commercial insurance plans. Verify your coverage online in about two minutes, or call and we’ll check for you.

Will I be in groups with much younger people?

Our groups are organized so that you’re with adults at similar stages of life. Many of our clients are parents of grown children, professionals, and people in midlife transitions.

Where are you located?

Our center is at 4 Preston Court, Bedford, MA 01730 — an easy drive from Boston, Lexington, Concord, Burlington, Lowell, and Nashua. Telehealth is available statewide.

You raised them. This chapter is yours.
