Every client has a primary therapist. One-on-one sessions are where treatment gets personal, and where the plan gets adjusted to you.
From your first days at Forrest, you’re matched with a licensed primary therapist who stays with you through your time in the program. They lead your assessment, build your treatment plan with you, meet with you individually, coordinate with our psychiatric team and any outside providers, and plan your step-down and aftercare. If you have a family session, they’re the one running it.
Individual therapy is where you go deeper than group allows: the history that’s hard to say in a room full of people, the specific relationship that’s falling apart, the trauma work, the honest conversation about a slip. Your therapist draws on approaches like CBT, DBT, EMDR, and motivational interviewing depending on what you need, and uses these sessions to make sure the skills from group actually transfer into your life.
For clients who have completed a more intensive program, or whose needs are lower-acuity, our Outpatient program centers on regular individual sessions with optional group support. It’s a common final step before transitioning to a community therapist.
Frequency depends on your program and needs. PHP and IOP clients meet with their primary therapist regularly in addition to daily groups.
Often yes. We coordinate with outside providers, and many clients return to their community therapist after stepping down from our programs.
